Beware: Woman at Work

I’m not in love with my blog. That’s not to say that I don’t like it. I just feel like its not a ‘pretty’ place to hang out at the moment. I’ve got lots of things on the boil and teaching myself all the ins and outs of creating a beautiful blog isn’t high on the priority list right now! Its such a shame as I love the potential of my theme. So, over the next week I’ve set myself a challenge. Here goes!

1. I will sort out the posts to look the way I want them to.

2. I will get my act together and sort my ‘About Me’ page. Really, I’m quite a capable person, but at the moment my blog looks like I am some sort of polar fleece wearing recluse who finds sustinance from the stale Twisties she has found trapped in her hair!

3. Sort out my blog schedule. When I think of an idea I’m going to write about it. In real life, actually do it. Not just compose it all and then let it trickle out of my brain!

What are your goals for the next few days? Do you find that if you change your thinking from ‘I’m planning’ to ‘I’m doing’ it makes a difference to you? I love saying ‘I’m planning’ as it gets the ideas out there, but it doesn’t make it happen! So, I’m changing to ‘I’m doing’, so I can say later ‘That’s what I DID’.

That’s what I’m planning on doing. Or rather… That’s what I’m doing!!

Kx.

  1. *yay* So glad you are ‘doing’ some work on your blog. I’m sure you can make it into a really pretty place for you and all of us to hang out.
Perspective is everything! I always think that the hardest thing is a blank page. All it takes is one sentence and all of a sudden you have a whole article. It’s the same with any task for me – once I start, it’s not so bad and it all comes along. So go on. Get in your back end and get prettifying!
I love that my blog is my happy place. A place to go and hang out and be me. I wish for everyone to have a space like that!
xx Love, your penpal, Heike 😉

  2. Oh, I so hear what you’re saying. I like your content and when it comes down to it that’s what matters, just because a blog looks good doesn’t mean it’s worth visiting.
Ever since I did the blog course with Pip, I been wanting to do revamp my blog and add bibs & bobs but life seems to just keep getting super busy, and I need a few days to sit and get my mind around things. Anyway it’s good enough for the time being so better not perfect than nothing at all, right.

    1. Thanks Michelle for the boost. Yes content is king, but I’m a sucker for a pretty blog and mine needs more work than I can give it at the moment. Its baby steps and stolen moments for us all!

  3. You’ll get there Kylie. Try not to get too bogged down in appearances. I’m still not happy with mine, but it will do for now. I’ve found my writing bug and am challenging myself to post each day. This can be difficult with my two wee ones, but it’s helping me feel at home with my blog.

There are plenty of ready made templates that make it easy to “pretty” up your blog. I’m considering buying one but I’m not sure.

Can’t wait to see what you do? (Sorry it took me so long to get here bloggy buddy). xx
