Fair Isle Friday 2

by Kylie, in category knitting

A mad, crazy week for me. This time of year is full of school events, Christmas parties, catch ups, and trying to get things organised for 2014. I’ll leave you with just a little snippet of fair isle knitting for to week. Wouldn’t you love to have a draw full of samples like these? I’d… Read More

On inspiration…

by Kylie, in category inspiration, knitting

How do artists get their ideas? How do musicians put down the beginnings of their next song? When a sculptor puts their hands on a block of marble, how do they know what to create?Over the years of talking to artists and craft people of all sorts, it seems that the way inspiration strikes is… Read More

Roll on 2012

by Kylie, in category craft, inspiration, knitting, patchwork

I’ve got some plans for 2012. But, first I need to make a space for myself. A studio. An area to create and inspire. The TGWH rearranged the spare room back in July…without me… It was traumatic to come home and find everything dumped on the bed, but it needed to be done. All this rearranging… Read More

KAL

by Kylie, in category inspiration, knitting, obsession

Life is full of acronyms. The one that I have been wrapped up in for the last few months is KAL or Knit Along. A group agree to knit an item or a specific pattern, or anything really! Sometimes there is a deadline, sometimes not. I really enjoy the encouragement and fun that ensues when… Read More

My Mara

by Kylie, in category knitting, obsession

This pattern was one that I’d wanted to do for a while. Its was one of my favourites on Ravelry, I’d printed out the pattern and was daydreaming about yarn choices when it all came together. A bit of inspiration from this lovely lady and a new obsession with Skein yarn, meant I was on… Read More

Time rolls on

by Kylie, in category inspiration, knitting

Its been a busy, creative time here. My first bit of wool dyeing in years. And I mean years, pre marriage, pre children…YEARS! Its been really satisfying and I can’t wait to do more. Its hard though to really capture the colours of these. Also lots of knitting. Happy times.

The Big Leap

by Kylie, in category inspiration, knitting

I’ve always loved knitting. I’ve always tweaked patterns to suit my needs. But making the leap to a ‘DESIGNER’ is freaking me out a little. Will other people like what I do? Time to put my big girl pants on and take a leap!!

Needles noon and night

by Kylie, in category clothing, knitting

It has been needles noon and night here! Our local show is coming up VERY soon and I’ve wanted to finish quite a few things off. Spring Garden Tee by Alana Dakos This was a great knit, but proved that 100% cotton yarn isn’t my favourite yarn.  We went camping the week before Easter, so… Read More

Slipper Time

by Kylie, in category family, knitting

The weather here is finally starting to cool down and little feet are getting chilly. I started some Norwegian House slippers for Dirtboy…but I got bored with them and they aren’t finished yet. But there is no way I’ll get bored with these babies! During my usual haunting of Jellywares I found this cute book. I… Read More
